Patience, Near Butterfly

about

This song was the first one I wrote for what I hoped would be a musical about Mary Shelley called The Monster's Midwife. I wrote a bunch of songs for it and even had a rough storyline. Life got in the way and I dropped the idea, but the song remains.

lyrics

Patience, near butterfly

warm in your cocoon.

With a God slap—a thunderclap—

life is born anew!

But what of those

in swaddling clothes,

who've scarcely left the womb?

What demon’s chosen

these tables frozen

in silent grey rooms ...

where grave diggers loom

just outside?

Such cruel fate for

Mother Nature

to suddenly decree:

One day you’re here,

so full of cheer,

the next you cease to be.

But what if man’s

enlightened hand

could save us all from doom;

if alchemy

could guarantee

reprieve from the tomb;

and the ever-darkening gloom

just beyond?

Patience, homunculus;

poor dead Lazarus:

Open your eyes!

Your glavanized!

time to rise!

about

Crush Limbo North Bergen, New Jersey

Crush Limbo is the stage name of NY-NJ-based musician Colm Clark.

It's bedroom pop meets Tin Pan Alley -- a world where glam gets it on with André Popp, teasing midlife symphonies from tear-shaped guordalins.

And in the grand tradition of Sondheim, Wonder, Bowie, and the Beatles — melody is key, baby, and tunes are where it's at.
